We support trade unionists across Norwich and the wider district to improve wages, conditions, and build stronger communities.
The Norwich & District Trades Union Council is the local branch of the Trades Union Congress (TUC). Founded in 1886, we bring together affiliated trade union branches across Norwich and the surrounding district.
Our role is straightforward: support trade unionists working to improve wages, defend conditions, and build the communities they live and work in. We're a place to organise, to share, and to push back collectively.
Whether you're a shop steward, a branch officer, or a rank-and-file member — if you're in a TUC-affiliated union, this council is yours.
Connect with trade unionists across Norwich and beyond. Share tactics, intelligence, and support that no single branch could muster alone.
Affiliated branches send a voting delegate to council meetings — a real say in the positions we take and the campaigns we back.
Picket-line solidarity, public campaigns, training, and the everyday graft of building a stronger union movement in Norfolk.
Meetings are open to all TUC-affiliated union members — you don't need to be a delegate to come along and see what we do.
If your branch decides to affiliate, you'll be able to send a voting delegate and have a direct say in the work of the council.
